π¦ What is Container Accommodation?
A Container Accommodation refers to tourism infrastructure built using repurposed or modular shipping containers, developed to provide:
- Comfortable lodging
- Portable or semi-permanent structures
- Scenic or offbeat location-based tourism experiences
To qualify for subsidy, it must comply with the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India guidelines for tented accommodations, including:
- Minimum guest facilities
- Sanitary and safety features
- Accessibility and eco-compliance
ποΈ Policy Operative Period
- Policy Effective From: 1st January 2021
- Policy Valid Till: 31st December 2025
Only new container accommodation projects that:
- Began construction or made the first investment on or after 01-Jan-2021, and
- Start partial or full commercial operations within the policy period
are eligible for benefits.
π Expansion of existing projects is not eligible.

- Approved by the department and notified to the Electricity Board

- 100% reimbursement on land/lease documents related to the tourism project

If your container accommodation is eco-certified, you get extra subsidy:
